By Judy Phan

It is considered that LSAT is the ultimate ticket to a law school. The fact that all law schools don't consider a student by a 3.5 GPA but all applicants with a score of 168 to 180 are admitted. The fact that indicates that only 4% of applicants under a LSAT score of 147 is admitted to a law school even if they were having a 3.5 GPA.

Another statistics reveals that about 60% of total applicants get through to law schools but rest 40% are not able to get admitted in any one. It is also seen that applicants from elite universities and colleges like Harvard and Yale beat students from public colleges and universities.

Now, this gives rise to a question of what should students who cannot afford elite education do to improve their chances to get through LSAT? Law schools do not give much weightage to GPA as it may depend upon the program and curriculum of the discipline chosen by the student. Law schools also don't consider admission essays as students are assisted by school consultants. This is the point which leads us to know that how much importance the LSAT essay possesses as it would be a reliable reference on evaluating writing skills of a student.

It is always said that prevention is better than cure. So, students who start preparing early for the LSAT threaten the rest of the lot. Firstly, they need choose their major and professors carefully. Subjects like English, Philosophy, History or Political Science often are fruitful in enhancing reasoning and analytical abilities. If you cannot afford tuition in an elite school than you can opt for live LSAT prep classes, online courses, LSAT book and other prep materials.

Studies indicate that it is always better to get pass through the LSAT in first attempt is a big plus as LSAT scores will be averaged if you retake the test. Besides devoting maximum time for studying and practicing for LSAT, results depend much on your approach. It is always better to learn on your own rather than needing a professional guidance of a coach.
