Check Out Fantastic Fireworks In Las Vegas

By Mark Matherson

People love to attend the elaborate celebrations for Fourth of July; the holiday draws people from all over the country, just to see all the hoopla. The busy city typically sees about 90 percent of hotel rooms booked, so it's best to make reservations ahead of time.

Music concerts, such as rock concerts or symphony performances, may choose to end the night with a memorable display of fireworks. Chicago's Millennium Park includes free concerts during the summer, twice weekly; each Saturday's performance concludes with fireworks.

New Year's Eve in Las Vegas is definitely something to remember. For over a decade, multiple casinos along the Strip have been coordinating their fireworks into one enormous, choreographed show with music blaring from loudspeakers along Las Vegas Boulevard. This event draws huge crowds every year, requiring that vehicle traffic be blocked from the boulevard for one evening. The Strip is the most popular place to view the fireworks, but some folks prefer to stay farther away to see the entire show at once.

The fireworks show may last less than ten minutes, but this spectacular display generally includes nearly 50,000 effects in six colors. Ironically, this Las Vegas event is produced by Grucci of New York, who has also produced Las Vegas's Fourth of July shows, two Olympic Games, and shows on the Brooklyn Bridge. A fire at one casino in 2008 put a temporary halt to rooftop fireworks, but this resumed in 2009 when fire safety consultants were hired to evaluate rooftop conditions.

On a more local level, competitions between clubs offer hobbyists and professionals to compete as well. Club members set off everything from single shells to fancy, choreographed displays. These clubs also provide safety instruction and safe premises at which individuals can learn how to shoot fireworks.
