LCD TV Reference Guide

By Billy Oaks

With much variety of LCD TVs available in the market, it can get very confusing to choose which type of LCD TV best meets your needs and demands. Liquid Crystal Diode (LCD) TVs are becoming more popular to consumers due to its high quality and state-of-the-art technology to provide viewers with an exceptional TV-watching experience. But before you fall for that seemingly great deal advertisement, it would not hurt to take a few steps backward to think of important considerations to make. The following are some useful tips to guide you to get the right LCD TV for you.

The first step to making the right choice is determining what screen size goes with your budget and floor plan. Be sure to measure the maximum size of LCD TV that fits the area where you want to put the TV. LCD screens are sensitive to light and heat so you may want to keep it far from windows and direct sunlight. It is also good to know what other options you have to choose from. CRT's are another choice, but back in 2007 LCD's passed the sales of CRT's because LCD's are lighter, the picture quality is better, and the overall quality is much higher.

A few things about these sets are not so great. For one, they use a ton of power so it makes the TV not very efficient. Also, another thing that is troubling is that the set uses Nitrogen trifluoride and this gives off green house gases that are bad for the environment and can effect the warming of the globe.

There are a variety of choices of LCD TVs suited for every demand. You may want to consider the extras that best cater your needs. Some are equipped with card slot readers for digital cameras and other memory devices. If you want to hook up other devices to your LCD TV, be sure there are enough input slots for DVD Players, cable, VCR and the like. If you are fund of watching DVD movies, you might want to get one with 3:2 compensation features or commonly known as film mode which makes the flow of movements smoother.

Speakers are also important to take note of. Some LCD TVs have speakers at the bottom while other at the side. It greatly depends on the person what type of viewing experience one would like to have. Also, check for the picture quality. Recommended resolution for sizes less than 30 inches is 1024 x 768. For bigger sizes, you may opt to choose one with 1366 x 768 resolution for better quality.

Lastly, online consumer reviews and reports can also be helpful in finalizing what LCD TVs are best for you. Consumers tend to have strong opinions one way or the other and it is often possible to tell by reading reviews whether the TV you want to buy is one that others have been happy with. However, be careful with reviews as often manufacturers will pay others to write positive reviews on the product in order to bolster sales.
